Cosmetic Bonding
Bonding uses tooth-colored materials to replace missing tooth structure or hide cosmetically unappealing minor defects in a tooth — chips, discoloration, and even minor spacing irregularities. Bonding materials are known as “composite resins”. They contain a mixture of plastic and glass, which adds strength and translucency. The composite actually bonds, or becomes one, with the rest of the tooth.
Dr. Bajwa uses her skills, artistic eye and technology in such a manner that it may be impossible to distinguish the bonded tooth from its neighbors. Though bonding will not last as long as a dental veneer, it also does not require the involvement of a dental laboratory and, most often without drilling of the tooth. It’s a particularly good solution for teens, who often need to wait until their teeth have finished maturing before choosing a more permanent type of dental restoration.
Inlays And Onlays
Inlays and onlays are two types of restorations that your dentist can suggest if you have a cavity in your tooth that needs filling. An inlay is a small filling that fits into the biting surface of a tooth while an onlay covers a larger area of the tooth and is suitable for bigger cavities. So, they only cover about ¾ of the tooth rather than the entire surface like a full crown.
At Pleasant Smiles, we use porcelain matched to your teeth, giving you long-lasting, natural protection that will stand up to years of wear and tear just like a filling.
If Dr. Bajwa recommends Inlays & Onlays, she will take impressions of your teeth and get Inlays and onlays custom made in a dental laboratory. In the meantime you will wear a temporary filling. When your Inlay or Onlay is ready she will glue it into place using a special adhesive, after removing the temporary filling
